LINE ROT

Draw every line before it rots.

BASICS 1 with three of its four lines drawn, each a different colour

The first line you draw is the first to go

This is BASICS 1, the opening puzzle: four lines around a diamond. Three are drawn here, and no two are the same colour.

Every line starts burning the moment you draw it, and they all burn at the same rate — so the order you drew them in is written across the board. The first stroke has already faded past amber. If any one line burns through, the run is over.

Later, the board stops being a shape

FOOTHOLDS 73 is 24 lines. Twenty are ordinary; the other four carry symbols that change what the route has to do.

One is locked until you have drawn what it waits for. One burns faster than the rest. One refuels every line still burning. One never rots at all. Getting a route that satisfies all four is the puzzle — the drawing is the easy part.

Every symbol is explained the first time you meet it

A new symbol stops the board and tells you what it does, once. After that it lives behind the ? in the corner, so you can go back to it whenever you like.

Five chapters introduce eleven symbols between them, a couple at a time, and never more than that in one chapter.

Finish with every line still intact

Back on BASICS 1: the fourth line closes the diamond and the level is complete. The counter reads 4 / 4, and the colours show how close the first stroke came.

Clear 15 of a chapter's 20 levels and the next chapter opens, so one puzzle you cannot crack never walls off the rest of the game. If you would rather see it done, a solution replay is available three times a day.
